overview

Over the years, Michael has been asked to speak at company retreats and other functions. He has also run a series of seminar programs.

He has draw on his practical experience gained over many years working on every continent. He has found some themes that run through the negotiation process and other fundamental business skills. In particular, there are some quite fundamental rules that apply to common sense approaches to issues in our personal, professional, and business lives that he hasshared.

Please contact us if you are interested in discussing how we might provide similar services to your business or group.

10 powers of negotiation

Part of Michael's philosophy on negotiation is based on his practical experience negotiating deals around the world and as a result of his fascination with Nelson Mandela's historic negotiations with the South African apartheid regime. In researching Nelson Mandela's negotiating skills, Michael identified Ten Powers of Negotiation.

This also gave rise to the program on Negotiation and Nelson Mandela.

If you define negotiation as the art of persuasion, the two programs in my negotiating series are each an invaluable tool in our everyday lives in dealing with personal and business negotiations.

the school of common sense...

Michael has been intrigued by the subject of common sense and how it is sometimes ignored.

He's created what he calls "The Duck School." It is his invention, but not really. It is the oldest and largest school in the world—a school as old as time itself. It is the school of common sense—the scammers’ kryptonite. Its teachings couldn't be easier to understand—or more difficult to follow…

He became intrigued about how, in almost every major financial scam that we have recently experienced, either the application of these common sense principles was notably absent, or the obstacles in applying these principles were too overwhelming.

Again, the rules of the Duck School apply equally to personal, professional and business decisions and situations we face almost every day.

detecting the scam...

Michael's interest in scams evolved over the years ashe encountered potential scams that were aimed at his clients. What intrigued him was how, by applying the Ten Powers of Negotiation and the principles of The Duck School, the chances of exposing scams increased dramatically.

This program focuses on real-life scams and demonstrates how the application of negotiating skills and common sense could have made a difference. It relies significantly on the material contained in "Detecting the Scam: Nelson Mandela's Gift."
